The important point is that 5, 7 and 9 are not simply
substitutes for the 4th.
The 4th has a broader principle of sukha, comfort,
vehicles and domestic/material conveniences. The 5th, 7th and 9th can
approach conveyance from the standpoint of movement, travel and the means
associated with that travel.
Why the 11th becomes important for a "good"
vehicle
Your observation about the 11th link is particularly
useful.
The 11th represents lābha — gain, acquisition, fulfilment
of desire and receipt of desired objects. Therefore:
Vehicle indication + 11th connection →
acquisition/fulfilment
Whereas:
4th + Venus → comfort, vehicle, luxury and enjoyment
So a chart may have a strong 4th/Venus combination
indicating vehicles and comforts, but the 11th connection can show the ability
to obtain a desirable or superior vehicle.
This gives us a useful distinction: 4th = vehicle/comfort
Venus = quality, luxury and enjoyment
11th = acquisition, gain and fulfilment
5th/7th/9th = conveyance in the context of movement/travel
And the Kerala assignment of 5-7-9 is especially
interesting because these houses form the trinal/travel-related framework,
rather than merely treating the vehicle as an object of possession.
I would therefore avoid saying that Kerala Sūtras
contradicts Parāśara. A better textual interpretation is that the two
systems are looking at different layers of the same phenomenon.
