Arthritis / Rheumatoid Arthritis — Astrological Framework
For disorders involving bones, joints, muscles,
ligaments, tendons and restricted movement, examine the following layers:
- Saturn–Venus
connection
- First
examine the relationship between Saturn and Venus through
conjunction, mutual aspect, exchange, dispositorship or other established
sambandha.
- Saturn
represents degeneration, stiffness, restriction and chronicity, while
Venus has an important relationship with the body's lubrication and
connective/joint-related functions.
- A
disturbed Saturn–Venus relationship can therefore become significant in
chronic joint disorders.
- Cancer–Capricorn
axis
- Examine
the Cancer–Capricorn axis, particularly when a malefic occupies
either sign or afflicts the axis.
- Since
Cancer and Capricorn form a fundamental polarity in the horoscope,
affliction here can become an additional indicator when it is connected
with the relevant planets and houses.
- This
should not be judged independently; the axis becomes more
meaningful when linked with Saturn, Venus, Sun or Mars.
- Sun
— bones
- Examine
the Sun for its condition, associations, lordship and afflictions.
- The
Sun signifies bones and skeletal vitality.
- Affliction
to the Sun, particularly when simultaneously connected with Saturn or
relevant houses, can indicate weakness or pathological disturbance of the
skeletal system.
- Saturn
— muscles, ligaments and tendons
- Saturn
should be examined carefully because it signifies muscles, ligaments
and tendons, besides chronicity, stiffness and degeneration.
- A
severely afflicted Saturn can convert an otherwise temporary problem into
a persistent or degenerative condition.
- Mars
— movement and immunity
- Mars
should be examined for movement, muscular activity, inflammation and
the body's defensive/immunological response.
- Its
relationship with Saturn can be particularly important: Saturn restricts
and stiffens, whereas Mars represents activity, movement and inflammatory
force.
- Thus,
a disturbed Saturn–Mars relationship may describe the tension between restricted
movement and inflammatory activity.
For Rheumatoid Arthritis specifically
For rheumatoid arthritis, I would give greater
importance to the combination of Saturn + Mars + Venus, rather than
looking at Saturn alone:
Saturn → chronicity, stiffness, degeneration,
ligaments/tendons
Venus → lubrication/connective and joint-related functions
Mars → inflammation, movement and immune response
Sun → bones and skeletal vitality
Cancer–Capricorn → additional constitutional axis to examine
The final judgment should then be confirmed through the Lagna,
Lagna lord, Moon, relevant houses and their lords, because medical
astrology should establish a chain of sambandha rather than declare a disease
from one isolated placement.
A useful principle would be:
First identify the bodily tissue involved, then identify
the planetary significators of that tissue, and finally establish whether those
significators are actually connected with disease-producing houses and
afflicted in the horoscope.
