Parijāta and Related Yogas – Results
Principle from BPHS and Sarvārtha Cintāmaṇi
The strength of the planet is graded according to how
many Vargas place the planet in own/exalted/mūlatrikoṇa signs.
If the planet obtains these dignities in the Daśavarga:
|
Number of Vargas |
Aṁśa / Yoga Level |
|
2 Vargas |
Parijāta Aṁśa |
|
3 Vargas |
Uttama Aṁśa |
|
4 Vargas |
Gopura Aṁśa |
|
5 Vargas |
Siṁhāsana Aṁśa |
|
6 Vargas |
Pārāvata Aṁśa |
|
7 Vargas |
Devaloka Aṁśa |
|
8 Vargas |
Airāvata Aṁśa |
|
9 Vargas |
Brahmaloka Aṁśa |
|
10 Vargas |
Śrīvallabha or highest dignity |
(Some texts stop at Airāvata, while others extend
further.)
The Daśavarga Used for Calculation
The ten divisions generally considered are:
- Rāśi
(D1)
- Horā
(D2)
- Drekkāṇa
(D3)
- Saptāṁśa
(D7)
- Navāṁśa
(D9)
- Daśāṁśa
(D10)
- Dvādaśāṁśa
(D12)
- Ṣoḍaśāṁśa
(D16)
- Triṁśāṁśa
(D30)
- Ṣaṣṭyāṁśa
(D60)
If a planet occupies own, exalted, or mūlatrikoṇa signs
in these charts, they are counted.
Example (your statement explained)
Suppose Jupiter is:
|
Division |
Sign |
Dignity |
|
Rāśi |
Sagittarius |
Own |
|
Navāṁśa |
Cancer |
Exalted |
|
Drekkāṇa |
Pisces |
Own |
Here Jupiter has 3 strong dignities in Daśavarga.
So according to the rule:
3 Vargas → Uttama
Aṁśa
Therefore, the yoga produced by Jupiter will manifest at
the Uttama level.
Another Example (Parijāta)
Suppose Venus is:
|
Division |
Sign |
Dignity |
|
Rāśi |
Taurus |
Own |
|
Navāṁśa |
Libra |
Own |
|
Others |
Neutral |
Here Venus has 2 strong Vargas.
This becomes Parijāta
Aṁśa.
This matches your statement:
“A planet in own, exalted, or mūlatrikoṇa divisions in at
least two divisions in Daśavarga is Parijāta.”
