Failure of Planet-Position Conjunctions:
"यदि हरिः सहरिगिरि गोभवो
वनगृहे विबुधो भृगुजो भये ।
मनसिजे मृदुगो धिषणाभिधो
धियि भवन्ति तनोविफला अमी ॥२०॥"
When the following planets occupy certain specific houses, they become
fruitless (fail to deliver their promised results):
- Sun + Moon
conjunction
- Mars in the 2nd
house
- Mercury in
4th
- Venus in
6th
- Saturn in
7th
- Jupiter in the 5th
Commentary:
This happens because when a karaka (significator) planet is in the 12th (vyaya)
from its natural significator house, it causes loss of the results it usually
promises.
Examples:
- Saturn
(karaka for longevity) in 7th (12th from 8th) reduces longevity
- Venus
(karaka for spouse) in 6th (12th from 7th) harms marital harmony
- Mars
(karaka for siblings) in 2nd (12th from 3rd) is similarly adverse
