Rahu in the 5th house.

 Rahu in the 5th house,

 “सुते तत्तस्पति सिंहिकायालोभाभितातिताः।
सति क्रोड़रोगे किमाहारहेतुःप्रपञ्चन किं प्रापकं दृष्टवर्ज्यम् ॥ ५ ॥”

Verse Interpretation (Line by Line):

When the son of Simhika (Rahu) is placed in the 5th house (suta = progeny, i.e., 5th house),
he becomes a cause for progeny (tatsapatī = associated with progeny).

Yet, the native is scorched (तापितः) by the worries and greed-induced anxieties, particularly due to a passionate or angry woman (bhāminī), symbolizing disturbed domestic peace or emotional distress relating to spouse or love.

If there is a deep internal disease (क्रोड़रोगे – disease of the bowels, e.g., indigestion or metaphorically, deep karmic affliction),
then what purpose does food (or medicine) serve? — i.e., symptomatic remedies are useless if the root cause is incurable or karmically fixed.

What can elaborate effort (प्रपञ्चन – extended effort or ritual) achieve, if the destined outcome (दृष्टवर्ज्यं) is not to be attained?
Without the support of destiny, even great attempts may yield little.

“When Rahu, the son of Simhika, is placed in the fifth house, he may become a cause for progeny.
Yet, the native is mentally afflicted due to worries arising from an angry or possessive woman.
If a deep abdominal ailment exists (symbolising serious internal imbalance or karma),
what use is food or medicine? Likewise, if the destined outcome is denied,
what can extensive effort or ritual truly accomplish?”

Philosophical Reflection: Udyama (Effort) vs Daiva (Destiny)

The verse closes with a deeply philosophical tone, asking:

"If the fruit is not destined to be attained (दृष्टवर्ज्यम्), what use is all this elaborate striving?"

This raises the age-old debate of उद्यम (human effort) vs दैव (divine will/fate).

The commentary further explains:

  • प्रापकादृष्टवये लाभकारि देवे विना प्रपंचेन यत्न विस्तारेण किं?”
“Without the favor of destiny or divine will (देव), what good is elaborate human effort? A great effort may only yield a small gain.”

Yet, it also acknowledges:

  • "भाग्यं फलति सर्वत्र न पौरुषम्” — “It is destiny that fructifies everywhere, not merely human endeavor.”
  • But immediately adds:

That very destiny is none other than the karmic result of previous efforts. So, present-day effort must not be deemed inferior.
Both effort and destiny are worthy of reverence.

 Final Synthesis:

"Effort and destiny are not mutually exclusive — effort itself, performed in the past, becomes destiny in the present. Hence, both are powerful and sacred. True wisdom lies in harmonising the two."

Body parts the left and right of it

Body parts as assigned to houses are based on the logic that is hinged on the fact that some organs do have right and left parts, other though being single organs like the brain and heart are also categorized by medical science mostly in two parts the left and right part of it. To accommodate this the 12 houses of the horoscope are arranged in such a way that one half of the zodiac depicts the right side the other the left, talking about ears and eyes, the right ear is assigned a house 3, and the left the 11th it seems to defy logic, but both these houses depict the element air and are part of a breathing process or talking about ayurvedic Tridosha it represents the Vata, the sense of hearing is attributed to Jupiter and of the two houses three and 11 Jupiter is the Karak Significator of 11th, therefore the inference. Another factor that goes in favor of the systemic placement of ears in the 3rd and 11th is that air is an essential element for the sense of hearing and it exists within the ether element again represented by planet Jupiter. When sound waves travel toward you, the first part of the process of hearing involves the ears. The sound waves enter the ear and the sensitive structures of the inner ear pick up the vibrations. These vibrations stimulate nerves and create a signal which contains sound information, so the brain is the central organ here therefore, and is signified by the first house or Lagna, and the right year from 3rd and left from 11th seems logical anatomy of the hearing process image as attached. The Drekana or d3 chart clearly categorizes these parts based on the number of degrees of the Lagna each being 10 degrees. The 0-10 degrees cover the face,10-20 neck to the pelvis, and 20-30 degrees the organs below the pelvis. The body parts again are clearly categorized on the left and right parts Similarly both eyes as depicted in 2 and 12 of the horoscope represent Kapha dosha both these eyes draw the source of the image and its depiction from the fiery or pitta house of Lagna through Alochoka pitta so Lagna or head has to be in between and common source of power and imagery. The heart as such is one organ yet it's divided into the left and right ventricle. It's assigned house no 5 some texts particularly Vrahmir maintains 4th to represent the heart, the heart is the body,s centralized pump that pumps blood and oxygen to various organs. In contrast, the right ventricle pumps the blood from the right atrium into the lungs to pick up oxygen and remove carbon dioxide. The left atrium receives blood from the lungs. This blood is rich in oxygen. The left ventricle pumps the blood from the left atrium out to the body, supplying all organs with oxygen-rich blood. So going by 4/5 the imposition of the organ heart the left part of it will be depicted in 10th and 11th and it's so 11th is the veinous flow and exhalation of breath expelling out CO2 from the body its called Vyana Vata. The anatomy of circulation is attached for the benefit of all. Continued -----------

Planetary results and the classics

🌕 **Verse 21**
Even a naturally benefic planet, if aspected by malefic (cruel or aggressive) planets, fails to yield good results.
Conversely, a malefic planet, if aspected by benefic ones, can become neutral or lose its malefic potency.
Similarly, a planet placed in a favorable house (excluding 3rd, 6th, 8th, 12th) but receiving aspect from malefics becomes ineffective (fruitless).
Whereas, a planet placed in a bad house (3rd, 6th, 8th, or 12th), if aspected by benefics, also becomes fruitless (i.e., gives no significant negative or positive result).
The inherent nature of planets can be overridden by aspects (drishti).
* **Malefic influence** can spoil a good position.
* **Benefic influence** can neutralize a bad position.
Thus, planetary **aspects significantly alter** their fruit-yielding potential.
🌕 **Verse 22**
A planet that is placed in the sign of a natural enemy, aspected by an enemy, combust (astangata – close to the Sun), or in a debilitated state, becomes fruitless (ineffective).
If the same planet is situated elsewhere (in a neutral or less afflicted condition), then its results are considered moderate.
* Planets **in enemy signs**, **combust**, or **debilitated**, are **incapable of producing results**.
* In contrast, if they are in slightly better circumstances (e.g., not combust or not in enemy’s sign), they produce **average or moderate results**.
🌕 **Verse 23**
Even a naturally malefic planet, if situated in its own sign, exalted sign, or a friend’s house, can produce benefic results.
Conversely, even a naturally benefic planet, if placed in an enemy sign, debilitated sign, or under the aspect of an enemy, will act cruelly (i.e., give malefic results).
This shloka expresses **reversal of planetary nature**:
* **Malefics in good positions** (own/exalted/friend sign) become capable of giving good results.
* **Benefics in hostile or debilitated positions** start acting like malefics.
✅ **Summary of All Three Verses:**
* **A planet’s dignity (position in sign/house) and aspects** determine the **quality and quantity** of its results.
* **Good planets can give bad results** if in bad conditions (e.g., enemy signs, combust, afflicted).
* **Bad planets can give good results** if in favorable conditions (own/exalted/friend signs).
* The **presence of aspects (drishti)** plays a powerful role in **modifying the nature** of planetary results.
