Mars and Autoimmune Disorders
Mars = immunity, nerves, defence
Strong Mars: sharp immunity, quick response.
Afflicted Mars: misdirected fire → inflammation, tissue
damage, autoimmune attack.
In 5th bhava/lord:
Liver, spleen, and pancreas are immune command centres.
Mars’ affliction here can manifest as autoimmune hepatitis,
splenic dysfunction, or Type 1 diabetes.
In 6th bhava/lord:
Intestines are the battlefield of immunity.
Mars here can trigger inflammatory bowel disease, celiac
disease, or chronic gut inflammation.
Saturn’s Degenerative Role
Saturn = degeneration, chronicity, obstruction
Saturn slows, hardens, and degenerates tissues.
In autoimmune contexts, Saturn represents the chronic,
progressive damage that follows Mars’ inflammatory spark.
In 5th bhava/lord:
Saturn can weaken liver regeneration, cause pancreatic insufficiency,
or splenic atrophy.
In 6th bhava/lord:
Saturn manifests as chronic gut disorders, malabsorption,
and long-term degenerative intestinal disease.
Mars + Saturn in 5th & 6th
Mars ignites → Saturn degenerates: Together, they
create a cycle of inflammation (Mars) and degeneration (Saturn).
Combination effect:
Autoimmune conditions often begin with inflammation and
progress into chronic degeneration.
This dual influence explains why these houses are so
critical in autoimmune pathology.
Ayurvedic Insight
Agni (digestive fire): Mars governs Agni. Balanced →
strong immunity; disturbed → excess heat, inflammation.
Vata/Kapha imbalance: Saturn contributes to
obstruction, dryness, and degeneration.
70% immunity in digestion: The 6th bhava (intestines)
is central. Mars’ fiery imbalance + Saturn’s degenerative obstruction =
autoimmune vulnerability.
Mars is the soldier: He fights, but when misguided,
he attacks his own kingdom.
Saturn is the slow decay: He ensures the damage
becomes chronic and degenerative.
5th bhava = command organs, 6th bhava =
battlefield of disease.
When Mars and Saturn afflict both, the body’s defence system
becomes its own enemy, leading to autoimmune disorders.
