Verse 42 (On the Sun's Significations):
चेतः शुद्धिरमाभिमानजनकात्यारोग्यताशवितधी-
राज्यं रक्तपटश्चतुष्पदतॄणे मुक्ताः खपो वृद्धता
व्योमेक्षाशुचिरक्तकण्टकतरुज्ञानोदया भारवेः॥
Translation:
• Chetaḥ shuddhi (Purity of Mind): The Sun signifies mental clarity, purity, and focus.
• Laxmi and Abhimana (Wealth and Pride): The Sun represents wealth, pride, and status, often connected to one's father.
• Health and Vitality: It indicates health, vitality, physical strength, and radiance.
• Sharpness and Heat: The Sun governs sharp, hot qualities, fiery nature, and bitter taste.
• Eye Diseases and Raj Yoga: It represents eye-related issues, royal status, or authority.
• Red Color and Animals: Associated with red-colored items, cattle, and other four-legged animals.
• Sky, Old Age, Knowledge: It governs elements like the sky, aging, spiritual knowledge, and austerity.
• Red Trees and Authority: The Sun is linked to thorny plants, forests, red-colored trees, and positions of authority.
Commentary:
The Sun governs an individual’s vitality, self-expression, and confidence. According to astrological texts like Uttar Kalamrita, it also signifies forests, animals, and austere living conditions.
