Deities of the Planets
Lord Shiva is considered to be the deity of the Sun. 
Lord Gauri is considered to be the deity of the Moon. 
Lord Kartikeya is considered to be the deity of the Mars. 
Lord Vishnu is considered to be the deity of Mercury. 
Lord Brahma is considered to be the deity of Jupiter. 
Lord Indra is considered to be the deity of Venus. 
Lord Yama is considered to be the deity of Saturn. 
POSITION OF THE PLANETS RELATING TO KAALRUPA
(a form of the almighty god)
The Sun is situated in the head and in the mouth of the KAALRUPA, the Moon in the throat,
Mars in the back and stomach, Mercury in the hands and legs,
Jupiter in the thighs and waist, Venus in the penis and testicles. 
INDICATIONS: A planet, which is placed negatively in the birth chart, has negative impacts on that part of the body, in which it is situated in the body of the KAALPURUSHA, so to neutralise the negative impacts of that particular planet, one has to worship that planet.

POSITION OF THE PLANETS RELATING TO KAALPURUSHA
(a form of the almighty God)
The Sun is considered as the Soul (ATMA) of the KAAL PURUSHA.
The Moon is considered as the MIND (MANA) of the KAAL PURUSHA.
The Mars is considered as the Power (BALA) of the KAAL PURUSHA.
The Jupiter is considered as the Knowledge (GYAN) of the KAAL PURUSHA.
The Venus is considered as the Lust (KAAM) of the KAAL PURUSHA.
The Saturn is considered as the Sorrow (DUKHA) of the KAAL PURUSHA.
The Sun and the Moon are also considered as the Kings.
The Mars is also considered as the Commander (SENAPATI).
The Mercury is also considered as the Prince (YUVARAJA).
The Jupiter and Venus are also considered as the Ministers (MANTRI)
and The Saturn is considered as a Servant (SEVAK). 
INDICATION: The powerful planets help favorably, for example, if the Sun or the Moon is powerful, the new born baby is sure to gain in the field of politics. The Sun and the Moon also help to make a man’s heart and mind pure. On the other hand, if the Sun and Moon are weak, they have a negative impact. On the contrary, the Saturn?s impact is just the opposite, i.e. if it is powerful, the impact is negative causing sorrow etc., but if it is weak, the negative impact is minimised.

POSITIONS OF THE PLANETS IN RELATION TO THEIR STATUS
Planets situated in the zodiac of friendly planets are called ?Children?.
Planets situated in their Moola-Trikona are called ?Young?.
Planets situated in high zodiac are called ?Prince?.
Planets situated in the low zodiac are called ?Old?.
Planets situated in the zodiac of low planets are called ?Dead?.
The planets have impact on us according to their positions and status for example ?
If a planet is in its childhood, the effect is joyful.
If a planet is young, it gives politeness.
The Prince planets give power and wealth.
If a planet is in its ?old age?, it causes diseases and increases indebtedness.
The dead planets cause loss of health, wealth and life.

THE POSITIONS OF THE PLANETS IN ALL THE TWELVE BHAVA (HOUSES) AND THEIR EFFECTS
The Sun is situated in the head and in the mouth of the KAALRUPA, the Moon in the throat,

POWER OF THE MOON
From the first day of the bright half of the lunar month (Shukla Paksha) till the next 10 days, the Moon is half powerful. 
From eleventh day of the Shukla Paksha till the fifth day of the dark half of the Lunar Month (Krishna Paksha), the Full Moon is the most auspicious. 
From the sixth day of the Krishna Paksha till the darker phase of the Moon (Amavasya), the Moon is powerless and weak. 
If a weak Moon is combined with the auspicious planets, it acts positively. 
Some Astrologers are of the view that, the Moon is weak from the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha till eighth day of the Shukla Paksha 
and it is powerful from the ninth day of the Shukla Paksha till the seventh day of the Krishna Paksha.
MASCULINE AND FEMININE PLANETS AND THE MASTERS OF THE FIVE ELEMENTS
Masculine Planets: Sun, Mars & Jupiter

PLANETS AS THE MASTERS OF DIFFERENT CLASSES AND AS THE MASTERS OF THE THREE BASIC QUALITIES
Venus & Jupiter are the masters of the Brahman caste (Priest class, spiritual teachers)
Mars & Sun are the masters of the Kshatriya caste (Warrior Class) 
Moon is the master of the Vaishya Caste (Business class) 
Mercury is the master of the Shudra Caste (working class) 
Saturn is the master of the  (downtrodden class) 
Rahu is the master of the another kind of lower class 
and Ketu is the master of the and intellectual class 
The Moon, the Sun and the Jupiter are of pure qualities (SATVA GUNI)

With their prominence in the Janma Lagna, the above mentioned planets help us to understand about the different classes of the society by. They also help in determining the qualities of a man.
STATUS OF THE PLANETS
The planet is brilliant and radiant in its high zodiac i.e. Sun in Aries, and also when it is in Moola Trikona 
?Healthy? in its own house 
?Joyous? in a friend?s house 
?Tranquil? in the house of auspicious planet 
The planets with the most radiant rays are ?purest?. 
A planet defeated by the planets is ?oppressed?. 
If a planet is positioned in the enemy?s house and in the Navamansha Kundali it is the ?Poorest?. 
If a planet is associated with a planet of PAAPA GRAHA it is ?Cruel?. 
If a planet is associated with a Neecha (lower than Shudra) planet, it is
(very frightened) 
A planet which is in the course of setting i.e. nearest to the Sun is ?Restless?.
AGE OF PLANETS
Mars is young. Mercury is a child. Moon & Venus are of medium age. Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu & Sun are old planets.
Indication:
The prominent positions of the above planets in the Nashta Prashna help to understand the age of a person.
HIGH AND LOW PLANETS
The Sun is considered as a high planet, till the tenth degree,
in the zodiac of Aries. 
The Moon is considered as a high planet, till the third degree
in the zodiac of Taurus. 
The Mars is considered as a high Planet, till the twenty-eighth degree
in a zodiac of Capricorn. 
The mercury is considered as a high planet, till the fifteenth degree,
in the zodiac of Virgo. 
The Jupiter is considered as a high planet, till the fifth degree,
in the zodiac of Cancer. 
The Venus is considered as a high planet, till the twenty-seventh degree,
in the zodiac of Pisces. 
The Saturn is considered as a high planet, till the twentieth degree,
in the zodiac of Libra. 
Similarly the planets are considered to be low in the seventh zodiac from their own positions respectively the degrees being the same i.e. The Sun will be a low planet till the tenth degree in the zodiac of Libra which is the seventh zodiac of the cycle.

PANCHADHA MITRA
If a planet which is natural friend of another planet, and if both of them are also instantaneous friends than they are called ADHIMITRA (very close friend) of each other. 
If a planet is neutral to another planet, but both of them are instantaneous friends than both of them are called MITRA (Friend) 
If a planet is a natural friend of another planet in the first category, but an instantaneous enemy than they are called SAMA (Neutral). 
If a planet is Naturally Neutral with an another planet but an instantaneous enemy of the planet than they are enemies (Shatru). 
If a planet is a neutral enemy and also an instantaneous enemy than both of them are ADHISHATRU (Bitter enemies).
RELATION BETWEEN PLANETS
There are four main types of relations between two planets: 
1) UTTAM(Superior): The relation between the two planets is superior if each of the two planets is placed in other?s house respectively. 
2) POORNA-DRISHTI(Medium): The relation between the two planets is medium if each of them is looking at the other with full sight. 
3) ARDH-DRISHTI(Mediocre): The third type of relation exists when a planet is placed in another planet?s house and one of the planet looks at the other planet full-sightedly, but the second planet does not look at that planet. 
4) ADHAMA(Inferior): If the two planets are sitting in the same zodiac, the relation between them is inferior. 
5) TRIKONA(Triangular): If a planet is placed in the fifth house from the first one, the two planets are said to occupy a triangular position. This particular relationship has been identified as the fifth type.
PLANET?S VARIABLE FACTORS
Since, each the zodiac (Rashi) comprises of 30 degrees, therefore a planet remains in a zodiac till the angle of 30 degrees are complete, after the completion of which the planet moves to another Rashi. 
The Planet having the angle of maximum degree in a zodiac has the effect on the person?s own self. 
The planet having the second maximum angle of degree in a zodiac has the effect on the person?s adviser (AMATYAKARAK). 
The Planet with the third maximum angle of degree in a zodiac, has the effect on person?s Brother (BHRATRUKARAK). 
Similarly the fourth, fifth, Sixth, Seventh and Eight?s planets (having maximum angles) affect the Mother, Father, Son, Caste and Wife of the person respectively. 
If the two planets have the same degree of angle than the planet having higher KALA should be considered.

The position of the sun in the birth chart gives information regarding a person?s own physical self, his father, valour, health, attachment and wealth. The position of the following planets and the information regarding which it gives are as under: 
MOON - Mind, Intelligence, getting favours from a person holding position of Authority i.e King etc, Mother, etc. 
MARS - Bravery and Valour, Diseases, Qualities younger brother and sister, Land and enemy etc.
MERCURY - Knowledge, Friends, Reasoning, Wisdom, Maternal uncle, Friend, Expertise in conversation, etc. 
JUPITER - Intelligence, Wealth, Health body, Son and Spiritual knowledge etc. 
VENUS - Wife, Vehicle, Ornaments, Sexual inclination and Power, Materialistic pleasures etc. 
SATURN - Age, Means of earning Livelihood, Death and its causes sorrow and Servant. 
Rahu - Grand Father 
Ketu - Grand Mother 
Moon also gives information regarding Left-eye, Sun gives information regarding Right-eye, and the Mars regarding younger brother.

A weak planet in the birth chart shows inauspiciousness and affects the concerned part of the body, negatively.

SUN - Having eyes of yellowish colour like honey, The body equal in length and breadth with increased bile and little hairs. 
MOON - Small, Thin and having round body, increased Wind Humour (vaat) and Phlegm (KAFA), Brilliant, Intelligent, Sweet talker & Beautiful eyes. 
MARS - Cruel Vision, Young, Generous at heart, has excessive bile element in his body, Restless & narrow waist.

THE POWERS OF RAHU AND KETU 
The Rahu is powerful in the zodiacs of Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Aries and Aquarius and also when it is placed in the 10th house of the birth chart. 
The Ketu is powerful during the night in the zodiacs of Sagittarius, Taurus, Pisces, Virgo and during the worst phase of a man’s life.

DIFFERENT POSITIONS OF RAHU-KETU AND THEIR EFFECTS 
Rahu is considered to be in high position (Uchcha) if placed in the zodiac of Gemini. 
Rahu is considered being the lord (Swami) if it is placed in the zodiac of Virgo. 
Rahu is considered to be low if it is placed in the zodiac of Sagittarius. 
Rahu has hostility with the Sun, Mars and Moon, but is friendly towards Mercury, Venus and Saturn and it is neutral towards Jupiter. 
Although, Rahu is considered to be an inauspicious planet, if it is placed in the third, sixth and eleventh house of a zodiac, it neutralises all the negative aspects. 
Ketu is considered to be high if placed in the zodiac of Sagittarius, is considered to be low if placed in the zodiac of Gemini and is considered as the lord of Pisces. Ketu is a Moola Trikona in Leo.
