VIPAREETA RATNA (OPPOSITE GEMSTONE)

VIPAREETA RATNA (OPPOSITE GEMSTONE)
Vipareeta means opposite or gemstones used for weakening the effects of some planets in certain houses. If any house is occupied by an enemy of its Karaka, then the significations of the house suffer. Keeping this principle in view, the first house to be checked in any chart is the ninth house of fortune and Dharma with Jupiter & Sun as the significator. Rahu and Saturn are the enemies of these significator and if they are placed in the ninth house, they shall damage fortune and Dharma. The remedy is to strengthen the concerned Karaka by wearing its gemstone in the ring finger. Suka Nadi states that if Rahu is in the ninth house, then the native has good fortune after wearing a Topaz. The same principle of Vipareeta Ratna (Opposite Gemstone) has been used here. Rahu is the enemy of Jupiter and since it is placed in the ninth house, the use of a Topaz (gemstone of Jupiter) removes the misfortune caused by Rahu. Similarly, if Saturn is in the ninth house, then the person may suffer from poverty/ failure in the homeland after 36 years. To remove this evil, a ruby, the gemstone of the Sun (Saturn’s enemy) is worn.

GEMSTONES VS. DASAS
Hands in which the gemstones are worn to be chosen on the basis of certain criteria. The right hand is ruled Jupiter and the left hand by Venus indicating increase (right hand) or decrease (lift hand) of life force.

Thus, if gemstones have to be prescribed to decrease the evil effects of a malefic planet, its gemstone should be used in the left hand. Such use should be temporary covering the dasa-bhukti of the planet.

When the planet is a malefic for the horoscope, the maleficence of the planet can be reduced by wearing a counter gemstone temporarily during the Dasa-bhukti of the planet. If instead a gem is to be worn for the main Dasa planet itself, then it should be worn in the left hand. For example, if Rahu is malefic then during its period a Yellow Sapphire/Topaz/Citrine can be worn in the right hand ring finger or Hessonite/Brown Tourmaline etc can be worn in the left hand middle finger.

A moral story worth reading

Long time ago there was a great king in the Raghukul dynasty (Lord Rama also belonged to the same dynasty). He was suffering from leprosy. He fell on the feet of his master, Guru Vashishtha and said: "Oh Master! So much of suffering... ?"
The master kept his hand on his eyes and asked him: "Look far. What do you see?"
"A huge sparkling golden mountain. And another black coal like mountain."
"One is the mountain of your good karma which gave you your kingdom, richness, power & fame. Another is the mountain of your sins because of which you have the painful disease, worries & troubles."
"Master! Is there a way to get relieved of these?"
"Eat up that mountain."
"Oh lord! Eating that mountain is out of my control."
"Then eat up the pile of garbage lying behind your palace."
"Oh great soul! I will not be able to eat that. Please tell me a simple way."
For a few seconds Guru Vashishtha made his mind peaceful and thought of a solution and said: "Sleep in a bed placed near main door of the palace of your widow sister-in-law everyday at 6:00 PM."
The king of Raghukul dynasty... In the palace of widow sister-in-law... ? What will people say? But there was no other solution. The king did as his master told him. Whoever passed by commented on the bad character of the king and humilated him. People even used abusive language. At ten o' clock in the night the king silently went back to his palace. The next morning he saw that a part of his body was cured. The next day the disease was further cured. In this way his body was getting cured day by day. His mind was also more peaceful now. On the fourth day Vashishtha ji kept his hand over his eyes and asked him to see again. This time he saw that the golden mountain of good karma was as big & sparkling as earlier but the black mountain of sins became very small.
Vashishtha ji said: "All those who spoke ill about you & criticized you have taken the portion of your sins. Now they'll have to suffer the consequences of your bad karma. You have become pure."
After two days that black mountain was reduced to a small pebble. The king was totally cured except for a small mark on his face.
"Oh Master! The big mountain has vanished and a small pebble is remaining now. There is a small mark on face now and a little grief in the heart."
"The remaining part is mine. Why should I commit the sin of criticizing & blaming an innocent & pure man and then bear the consequences? You bear the remaining yourself."
Whenever great men have come to earth whether it was Ramkrishna, Ramteerth, Raman Mahrishi, Buddha, Mahavir, Kabir, Guru Nanakdev, Socrates or Christ, their critics were always there. Many of their karmas of past lives (sanchita karma) are destroyed after attaining true knowledge. They are unattached to whatever karma they are doing in this life (kriyaman) so their followers & critics take these karma. They bear with the remaining karma (prarabdha) happily. They understand that happiness & sadness come and go. How can the material things which come & go disturb my real self? Thus those who have realized true knowledge never lose their balance of mind.
Two men were going somewhere. On the way they became tired. Both of them were troubled by the heat of the sun. thirst & pebbles lying on the road. One man being ignorant is complaining: "Oh My! I'm too tired. I don't know how far we need to walk." Thus these words of his are increasing his pain. The other one knows that there is just one kilometer left. He says: "When we've walked so much then we can easily walk another kilometer. How does it matter?" One is worried and the other is merry.
Similarly those who have realized true knowledge are on the same road of life as we are. We are ignorant and they have discovered the truth.
Do not get lost in your problems or successes. If you apply concentration in your day to day circumstances then even your harsh karmas will melt away by the warmth of knowledge.
If you get the blessings of the self realized saints then your road to salvation will become easy.

'Kevali Kumbhak' (Pranayam)

Asset of 'Kevali Kumbhak' (Pranayam)

-Translated from a discourse given by Sant Shri Asaramji Bapu
The person who masters the kevali kumbhak becomes worth worshipping. Not only is he capable in fulfilling his desires but the desires of those who worship him also get fulfilled. This is such a powerful key of Yoga that the spiritual aspirant who sincerely practises it for six months definitely observes positive changes in his life.
One cannot describe how fortunate is the spiritual aspirant who makes efforts to master this kevali kumbhak with full concentration. Each day he will experience his omnipresence even more. He will experience his greatness. He will find a total transition of his life.
What more can one say, even if he practises only for three days miracles will happen in his life. You will not remain the same as you were earlier. You'll be able to win over the bad qualities like sensuality, anger, greed, attraction etc.
Kak Bhushandi (a self realized soul) says: "The reason for my life to exist for ages & I being able to realize the true self is the art ofPrana."
The art of Prana is Pranayam. The method of Pranayam is as follows:
Sit straight with folded legs (padmasana) on a clean aasana (something non-conducting in nature to sit on, may be a small blanket) after going for bowels & taking bath. Let the forehead, neck & chest remain aligned in a straight line. Now close the right nostril with the thumb of your right hand & breathe in through your left nostril. Silently without opening your mouth keep repeating the sound of "Om" or "Hari Om". This is called Purak. Close both the nostrils with the thumb & middle finger. Hold the breath for a time period four times the time taken to breathe in the air. This is called Abhyantar Kumbhak. Finally remove the thumb from the right nostril and slowly breathe out the air. This is Rechak. The time taken to exhale (Rechak) should be twice that of inhaling (Purak) & the time taken for Kumbhakshould be four times that of Purak. Therefore the ratio of Purak:Kumbhak:Rechak is 1:4:2.
Exhale from the right nostril exhaustively. Close both the nostrils with the right thumb & middle finger. This is called Bahir Kumbhak. Inhale from the right nostril, then after Kumbhak exhale through the left nostril. This complete cycle is one Pranayam:
Purak... Kumbhak... Rechak... Kumbhak... Purak... Kumbhak... Rechak...

During the entire process keep repeating the sound of "Om" or "Hari Om" in your mind.
Another important thing is that before inhaling squeeze in the lungs area i.e, pull it upwards. This is Mool Bandh.
Now squeeze the area around the naval also upwards. This is Uddiyan Bhandh.
The third thing is that after inhaling the air completely press the chin against the hole in the neck (kanthakup). This is called Jallandhar Bandh.
If the pranayam is done along with these three things then it will be more beneficial & will produce miraculous results.
The state of holding the breath (i.e, after Purak) is called Abhyantar Kumbhak. The state of releasing air completely from the lungs & then closing both the nostrils (i.e, after Rechak) is called Bahir Kumbhak. One should do Abhyantar Kumbhak first and then Bahir Kumbhak.
The time taken for Bahir Kumbhak should be half of the time taken for Abhyantar Kumbhak.
The fruit of Pranayam is Bahir Kumbhak. The more does the time period for that increases the more will your life sparkle. Your body & mind will get rejuvenated. Your mind will no longer wander in unnecessary thoughts.
Another important thing for this whole process is that your eyes should not blink. The eyeballs should remain positioned at one place. Energy flows out of wide opened eyes & gets wasted but if the eyes are closed then the mind wanders in unnecessary thoughts. Therefore one should keep the eyes in a half opened state where it is neither closed nor fully open. This helps a lot.
Another method for increasing concentration is that do not let the tongue touch the upper or lower surface of the inner mouth. Let it stay stationary in the middle. The mind will remain busy in keeping the tongue at this position & it will not be able to wander else where. For improving concentration the position of half-opened eyes helps more than keeping the tongue as described.
Meditating on God or Guru at the time of doing Pranayam is also very fruitful in increasing concentration. Concentration also increases if one does Tratak after Pranayam. The mind becomes peaceful.
It is very beneficial to do meditation for half or one hour after doing pranayam.
Concentration is a big austerity. All the sins commited in the night are washed away with pranayam done in the morning. The spiritual aspirant becomes pure. The river of happiness starts over-flowing in his heart.
Japa (repetion of the holy name or mantra) happening on its own is a very positive sign. Remain immersed in the meaning of the mantra & while doing japa think of its meaning also. Sometimes become the observer of doing japa. 'The Prana & the voice do the japa. I'm the source of existence of all, I'm peaceful & I never die.' Become the observer of every action eating-drinking, sleeping-waking up... If this practice keeps increasing then Kevali Kumbhak will happen.
By doing pranayam regularly one will be able to master Kevali Kumbhak and thus the mind will eventually become peaceful. When the senses & mind are at peace then kumbhak starts happening without doing it consciously.
This state in which Kumbak occurs without making any efforts is called Kevali Kumbhak. It is safe to do the Kevali Kumbhakin the guidance & presence of SatGuru.
Strength increases when the mind gets submerged in the soul because it gets complete rest. Even when there is no visible action mind gets tired because the mind is still engaged in internal never-ending thought process.
In the initial stages of meditation the following visible changes will start appearing: face will become peaceful & happy, eyes will sparkle with positive energy, happiness will be experienced at the consciousness level, voice will become sweet etc. The person who does meditation sees white colored dots (Trasrenu). These Trasrenu keep increasing in size. When you start seeing these Trasrenu it means that real progress is happening.
There is another way to master Kevali Kumbhak. In the night concentrate your eyes without blinking on the moon. Otherwise focus your eyes without making them blink on the farthest point in the sky. Take care that you do not go off to sleep. Stay alert and then focus either on the moon or the distant sky.
Increase your willpower and then get seated in the soul. You will then become Brahma (the vedantic supreme soul). This is the ultimate fruit of the power of pledge & determination (Samkalpa).
The main obstacles in the spiritual journey are sleep, laziness, distraction of mind, constipation and desires for sensual pleasure. One can win over these with pledge & determination. The biggest obstacle of the spiritual journey is speaking. Spiritual energy is protected by observing silence. Doing spiritual pratices regularly with interest makes one successful. The unselfish social service is also very helpful but since social service requires the mind to concentrate in the material world therefore the motivation behind the social service eventually takes a selfish face.
It is impossible to be completely unselfish as long as one thinks of himself as the body.
After listening to the saints if we do not adopt their teachings, then we are just wasting their time. It is difficult for us to repay this loan which we are taking from them. It is better to take credit from saints than taking it from the rich men of the material world but it is better to realize the self than to keep borrowing from saints. If we contemplate on the words of the saints and do analysis of spiritual literature regularly then we can become capable of repaying their loan...

Trikaal Sandhya

Trikaal Sandhya
In order to make life brighter, successful and progressive, one must do Trikaal Sandhya. Ten minutes before & ten minutes after the sunrise, ten minutes before & after noon, and ten minutes before & after sunset are considered to be very auspicious. Meditation, japa (repition of the Holy Name), Pranayama done at this time is very helpful in opening doors of the Sushumna. The dormant energies and strength of a human being is awakened as soon as the doors of the Sushumna is opened.
The Rishis & Munis of ancient times used to do Trikaal Sandhya. Lord Vashishtha and Lord Rama used to do Trikaal Sandhya. Lord Rama used to take his lunch after his meditation in the afternoon.
It is very good if one washes hands & feet, drinks three sips of water and then sits for meditations and does Pranayama, Japa & concentration during these three times. If one is in office, then one can do these activities mentally. But one should do these definitely

Dear All, listed below is a very informative topic started on AIA by sreenadh ji ,wherein i also participated and a very useful insight was given by SH G K goel ji .

What is the specialty of Godhuli time? Comments welcome.

Specialty of Godhuli Time
                                 (Vivaha Patala from Brihat Samhita)
[If it is aparahna time the dust raised by foot steps of the cows, which are running afraid of the stick of the shepherds, will spread everywhere. This time is termed ‘Godhuli lagna’. If a beautiful woman gets married in this time, then wealth, sons, health and prosperity results. During this time, (ephemeris elements such as) Nakshatra, Tithi, Karana, Lagna, Nityayoga etc are not important. The dust that rises from the land due to the footprints of the cows is very auspicious and famous. This is auspicious for the human beings and destroys all malefic results]
The day (the time from sunrise to sunset) is divided into five such as Prahna-Purvahna-Madhyahna-Aparahna-Sayahna each spanning approximately 2 hours 24 min (3 muhurtas) each.  Thus aparahna is approximately the time from 1.12 PM to 3.36 PM.

Godhuli ......

A pundit should not worry about Nakshatra, Tithi, Karana,Lagna,
Naavamansh, Muhurtam, Yoga, Ashtama Stana , Jamitra Dosaha etc when
he fixes Godhuli Lagna. According to all Munis, Godhuli lagna is best
for all auspicious Karyas.

There is A Godhuli Bheda as Under.

In Hemant Ritu, when Sun is round before Sunset, In summer when it is
half set and in Rainy season when Sun is fully set, it is termed as
Godhuli time.
A wise Pundit fixes Godhuli lagna accordingly.

There are some important things to be remembered about Godhuli Lagna.
On Thursdays , Godhuli is Shubha when Sun is set and on Saturdays
when Sun is not fully set.If Monn is in lagna, sixth or eighth house
at Godhuli, Kanya (Bride) dies. So avoid Godhuli lagna with above
condition.
Similarly, Mars, when in Lagna, 7th or 8th at Godhuli time,
Bridegroom gets destroyed.
So avoid such combination.
If Moon is in 2nd, 3rd or 11th house during Godhuli, it is Auspicious.

Dear Friends,
Martand Panchang which is published from Chandigarh has
given a concise view on Godhuli Ladna which are useful

as these are based on the gist of classics:
" While fixing the auspicious Mahurta for marriage, three factors are considered:
! Tribala Shudhi- From The Moon of Bridegroom ., the transit Moon and Sun should
be in auspicious places. From the Moon of Bride , Moon and Jupiter should be in
auspicious places in transit. (Help of Astakvarga will be useful)
2 a. Samaya- Suddhi-(auspicious time)- Time and day of marriage should be free from 24 dosas,
If their is some dosa out of 24 , the Graha Shanti should be done if possible , otherwise such days
    are not suitable for marriage.
b Out of 27 , only 15 Naksahtra are suitable for marriage. Any of the following

Naksahtra should be ruling at the time of Marriage:
      Ashwani , Rohni, Mirgshira, Magha,All the three Uttara, Hasta,Chitra , Swanti,Anuratha, Moola
     Shravan, Dhanisthaand Revati.

The above conditions should be met ,these are must for auspicious marriage Mahurta.
Once the day is selected , then auspicious Lagna is selected. If no auspicious Lagna is
available on that chosen day , only then stability of Gohuli lagna is considered.
Godhuli Ladna should not be preferred if some auspicious Lagna is available.

 Rules for selecting Gidhli lagna
This lagna rules 12 min before and after the time of local Sun set of the place where
 marriage will be performed.
Moon should not be in 6 and 8th houses of Lagna,
Tithi- 2,3,5,6,7,8,10,11,12,and 13 tithi of both Pakchha are adopted. Full moon and

1st tithi of Dark half is acceptable.14 AND NEW MOON DAYS OF DARK HALF,
1ST TITHI OF BRIGHT HALF ARE NOT CHOSEN.
ASPICIOUS TITHIS SHOULD  RULE AT THE TIME OF MARRIAGE.
Moon and Mars in Lagna of Godhuli Lagna is not accepted.
  REGARDS,

G.K.GOEL
