Mudras


A 'Mudra' is performed by pressing a finger onto another in a particular fashion. Acupressure Therapy states that the key to our health resides in our hands and that a particular kind of energy is continuously transmitted from them. It is believed that there is a chakra in the centre of the palm which emits an electro-magnetic ray .
Most of us have experienced that whenever we rub our hands together, it generates heat. If one adds the power of mind and love, the results can be dramatic.
Like the Universe the human body is made up of 5 elements. In the case of the hand: 
The THUMB represents the Fire or SUN
The INDEX FINGER represents AIR or WIND
The MIDDLE FINGER represents SKY or SPACE
The RING FINGER represents EARTH
The SMALL FINGER represents WATER.
The proper study of Mudras helps us to control the 5 elements. These Mudras can create energy waves in our body which help to bring the 5 elements into a proper balance. These then cure many diseases, be they physical, mental and/or spiritual. Achaarya Keshav Deo states: "If a human body is a machine, the mudras are the controlling switches of this machine". Different Mudras are performed for different purposes.
GYAAN MUDRA

Touch the tip of the thumb with the tip of the index finger. No need to press. Though you may sit in any comfortable position, best results are derived whilst meditating sitting cross-legged. This mudra increases Brain Power. It brings relief to people suffering from anger, mental tensions, headaches, insomnia, laziness and depression. It also helps mentally retarded children. You may practice this mudra for as long as you please.

I would like to know some more information about the  Mudras.

I was reading about the Mudras, The Gyaan Mudra and the  Varun Mudra. As you have said for the Gyaan Mudra, it is the touching of the  index finger and the thumb.  Please let me know that do I have to  chant anything while touching those fingers and also for the Varun Mudra, if I  have to chant some mantras with it as well.
The Gyan Mudra  and the  Varun Mudra.

Gyan means wisdom and so the Gayatri mantra is a good choice.  OM or AUM is also always an appropriate mantra.  This is the most commonly used mantra and mudra combination.  It is universal in that it contains the chi in a simple and direct way.  You may chant any mantra of your choosing for the goal you wish to achieve.  You do not have to chant with mudras though any layering as suggested, will intensify the experience and effect.

The incoming, the outgoing, the balancing forces of the universe. We meditate on the effulgent light of Supreme Consciousness, the radiant source of all creation. May that inspire our wisdom.

Varun means water. Water is life. As per acupressure therapy, the little finger of left hand represents left portion of the body. Similarly, the little finger of right hand is symbolic of right portion. The little fingers, affecting the left and right parts of the body, are influenced by fire element. By exerting pressures on both the fingers, the left and right portions of the body become healthy and strong. Disorders are removed,  the energy is balanced. The moisture of the body is purified, we are made almost entirely of water. The state of unconsciousness ends. A particular Shanti Padah is indicated when in prayer for world peace with performing the Varun mudra.  It will cleanse your own inner world of water as well.

OM may all heavens - sun , moon, stars and all zodiac signs – be in peace and harmony.  May the space between the Earth and the sun, moon, and stars be without pollution.  May all the waters be peaceful and free from pollutions: oceans, rivers, drinking water and rain (the water of the microcosm of our bodies).   May all medicinal herbs and plants be in their natrual state – free from all pollutants (insecticides, etc). some full posture advice to go with your mudras:
Stretch the arms out straight parallel to the floor, elbows locked
Recommended with chanting at least 3 times
Stretch the arms out straight parallel to the floor, elbows locked
Focus your eyes to two and one half finger widths above the nose at the center point between the eyebrows at the Third Eye
Inhale through the teeth with the jaw relaxed
Exhale through the nose
No mantra is necessary but it is OK to chant your favorite mantra.
To end Inhale deeply and hold for 20-30 seconds and repeat

This is a mantra recommended for overcoming past trauma and anxiety in the present. You are humbly asking to be shown your inner guru  (Sat Guru) to teach you what you are to learn from this experience of trauma. AAKAASH MUDRA

Aakaash means 'space' This Mudra is performed by pressing the tip of the middle finger to the tip of the Thumb. The middle finger is specially related to the heart. This Mudra is good for the heart and bone ailments. So if one is chanting one should hold the mala (rosary) in ones right hand close to the heart. If one is seeking wealth and worldly pleasures, that is required for peace And joy in family life, then chanting should be done by holding the mala And moving the beads with ones thumb and middle finger. Do the above if you have a desire for a son. If one uses ones thumb and index finger (Like the Gyaan Mudra) while Moving the beads, it aids in ending enmity and/or suffering. Do not touch the beads with your nails and do not pass the meru (the centre Bead) If you do, you may not get what you desire. Practice this Mudra only when required, and avoid doing it for long periods.
PRITHVI MUDRA

This Mudra is performed by pressing the ring finger and the thumb. It is believed that an electric current passes through the ring finger (Maybe that is the reason for wearing engagements and wedding bands on it) One generally applies tika with the ring finger and/or with the thumb. There is a two-petalled lotus in our forehead according to Yoga. By touching this lotus with the finger or thumb, invisible spiritual powers are enhanced. If one turns the beads of a mala with the thumb and the ring finger, It helps in ones progress towards enlightenment. This Mudra improves the texture of the skin as it improves health. It helps in gaining as much weight as is required. One may practice this Mudra for as long as one feels like.
VARUN MUDRA

This Mudra is performed by pressing the tip of the little finger with the Tip of the thumb. If one suffers from dryness of the body, this mudra helps in restoring moisture. This Mudra is beneficial for those who suffer from gastro-enteritis and stomach cramps. You may practice this mudra whenever needed.

    A mudra is a bodily posture or symbolic gesture. In Buddhist iconography every buddha is depicted with a characteristic gesture of the hands. Such gestures correspond to natural gestures (of teaching, protecting, and so on) and also to certain aspects of the Buddhist teaching or of the particular Buddha depicted.
    Here mudras accompany the performance of liturgies and the recitation of mantras. They also help to actualize certain inner states in that they anticipate their physical expression; thus they assist in bringing about a connection between the practitioner and the buddha visualized in a given practice.

1.)Dhyani MudraIn this mudra, the back of the right hand rests on the palm of the other in such a way that the tips of the thumbs lightly touch one another. The hands rest in the lap. The right hand, resting on top, symbolizes the state of enlightenment; the other hand, resting below, the world of appearance. This gesture expresses overcoming the world of appearance through enlightenment, as well as the enlightened state of mind for which samsara and nirvana are one. In a special form of this mudra, the middle, ring, and little fingers of both hands lie on top one another and the thumbs and index finger of each hand, touching each other, form a circle, which here also symbolizes the world of appearance and the true nature of reality. 
2.)Vitarka MudraThe right hand points upward, the left downward; both palms are tuned outward. The thumb and index finger of each hand form a circle. The right hand is at shoulder level, the left at the level of the hips. In a variant of this teaching gesture, the left hand rests palm upward in the lap, and the right hand is raised to shoulder level with its thumb and index finger forming a circle. In a further form of this mudra, the index finger and little fingers of both hands are fully extended, the middle and ring fingers somewhat curved inward. The left hand points upward, the right downward. 
3.)Dharmachakra MudraThe left palm is tuned inward (toward the body), the right outward, and the circles formed by the thumbs and index fingers of each hand touch one another. 
4.)Bhumisparsha MudraThe left hand rests palm upward in the lap; the right hand, hanging over the knee, palm inward, points to the earth. Sometimes the left hand holds a begging bowl. This is the gesture with which the Buddha summoned the Earth as witness to his realization of buddhahood. It is considered a gesture of unshakability; thus Akshobhya (the Unshakable) is usually depicted with this mudra. 
5.)Abhaya MudraHere the right hand is raised to shoulder height with fingers extended and palm turned outward. This is the gesture of the Buddha Shakyamuni immediately after attaining enlightenment.
6.)Varada MudraThe right hand, palm facing out, is directed downward. When Shakyamuni is depicted with this mudra, it symbolizes summoning Heaven as witness to his buddhahood. This mudra is also seen in representations of Ratnasambhava. In a variant, the thumb and index finger of the downward extended hand touch one another. Frequently the abhaya and varada mudras are combined: the right hand makes the gesture of fearlessness, the left that of wish granting. 
7.)Uttarabodhi MudraBoth hands are held at the level of the chest, the two raised index fingers touch one another, the remaining fingers are crossed and folded down.; the thumbs touch each other at the tips or are also crossed and folded. This mudra is frequently seen in images of Vairochana.
8.)Mudra of Supreme
Wisdom
The right index finger is grasped by the five fingers of the left hand. This mudra, characteristic of Vairochana, is the subject of many interretations in esoteric Buddhism, most which have to do with the relationship between the empirical world of manifoldness and the principle that is its basis-the unified world principle, the realization of unity in the manifold as embodied in Buddha.
9.) Anjali MudraThe palms are held together at the level of the chest. This is the customary gesture of greeting in India. Used as a mudra, it expresses "suchness" (tahata).
10.)Vajrapradama MudraThe fingertips of the hands are crossed. This is gesture of unshakable confidence.


Malas are held draped over the second finger and you turn the beads with the thumb. the first finger should not touch the beads. the reason for this is the first finger represents the ego, the thumb represents the self. so the ego has to be kept out of the way.
when you reach the end of the mala, symbolised by the meru bead, the big one at the end, then just turn it around and go back the way you came. do not cross the bead - crossing it makes the mantras ineffective.

The Arudha - Pada Lagna

The Arudha
The arudha means, image, or reflection if you will. In Jyotish astrology there are Arudha's for grahas and for houses. We will stay simple and just talk about the Arudha of the Ascendent, the Lagna ( pronounced lug-nah).
Now, most explanations will just tell you the calculation on how to do this and move on...one sits there and says , yes I know the calculation, now what to do with it? So lets start with what this Arudha, this reflection, image means in a practical way.

Consider this. You are known at home and you, your behavior is known and what you think of yourself, you have an impression of yourself, yes? Now what of the outside world? How does the world see you? [ kinda part of maya].

The world sees you as a reflection of yourself. That reflection is called the Arudha of the lagna, and this new location, outlined by Parashara and Jamini, is called the Pada Lagna ( Not Paka... I will talk of this , so we want to keep the Paka and Pada lagna's distinct, ok).
Each house has an Arudha, or Bhava Arudha, each graha has an Arudha, but lets start simple and only deal with the Pada Lagna ( and of great import).

The Calculation by example [edited 5th July '07 for corrections]
Lets say the native is Aries Lagna ( the rising sign at birth was Aries or Mesha). The Lord of that sign, Aries is Mars.
Part 1 - We look in ones chart to see where mars is placed. For this example, lets say its placed in Virgo.
We count from Aries to Virgo, how many signs are there? There are 6. Note that when we start the count, Aries is counted as the 1st house and Virgo is the last house, like that we count the start-and-stop houses, ok. So, we get 6 signs.
Part 2 - We note 6 signs. We now count from Virgo, where Mars resides and count 6 signs. We arrive at Aquarius. Aquarius is called the AL, or Arudha Lagna for this individual with Aries as the Lagna.
Exceptions: There a few exceptions to this rule given by Jaimini muni:
A. The AL cannot end up in the 1st house, or the original Langa ( in this example it would be Aries), nor can it end up in the 7th house from the original lagna ( in this example, Libra).
B. If when doing the calculation , the AL comes to the Lagna, this is to be rejected, and the AL is the 10th house from the Lagna.
C. If when doing the calculation , the AL comes to the 7th house, that is to be rejected, and the 4th house from the Lagna is considered the AL.

I our example above We have to adjust it to show how the Exceptions work.
Example 2.
Lets say Aries remains the Lagna. Now we look to see where where Mars resides...lets now say Mars is in Libra, the 7th house from Aries. That is, 7 signs from Aries, correct? If we then apply the rule and count 7 signs from Libra, we end up back at Aries, and that has to be rejected due to Exception A above. We then place the AL in the 10th house from the Lagna (Aries) and the AL is Cancer, based upon Exception B instructions.
Example 3.
Aries remains the Lagna. Now we look to see where where Mars resides...lets now say Mars is in Cancer, or 4 houses from Aries, the lagna. Now if we count 4 houses from Cancer, we arrive at the 7th house, Libra;this due to Exception A must be rejected as the AL. We look to Exception C above, and place it in the 4th house from the Lagna, or Capricorn.

Now why is this? why cannot the AL end up back in the Lagna position or the 7th position. It is very interesting. The 1st and 7th houses are considered those houses of truth, without maya, the birth and the opposite of birth, death. All that happens between these points are life and various forms of maya. That is the principle at work.

So, when one looks at some individual from the outside , a political leader, that looks wise, perceived as an honest man, of great Jovian (Jupiter) qualities. Yet we come to find come to find out he is corrupt, of meager intelligence, etc. The AL or Arudha is how we perceived him, how the world sees him. But one gets to know the person from an incident, a news story, etc. the AL of him is no longer a logical view. This happens all the time.

We know now the AL. We also know the Paka Lagna. How so? The Paka Lagna is the location of where the Ascendent Lord resides. Very important for calculations and a 'must' consideration for interpretations.
So, in our example above, Lets say the Lagna is Aries. Lets also say Mars, the owner of Aries, resides in Leo. Leo is considered the Paka Lagna and an evaluation of ones birth chart needs to also be viewed from these two locations. Aries and Leo.
Now, you are saying , am I glad we're done with different lagna's!. We have the native's rising sign Lagna , we have the Paka Lagna and the AL or Arudha lagna... Well, Jyotish is much more robust that that, as we are complicated beings yes?
There is the Hora Lagna - a view of you from the point of wealth
Ghati Lagna - a view of you from power and authority
Sri Lagna - from the point of prosperity, and blessings of Sri and Lakshmi

CLOSE CONJUNCTIONS


When two or more planets have the same longitudes, they are conjunct with each other.  The conjunction can be exact or close.  If the difference in longitudes happens to be less than one degree the resulting conjunction is known as exact conjunction.  If the difference in longitudes happens to be within five degrees, the same is known as a close conjunction.

Vimshottari and life span

When we talk of past life's, does it not beg the question, how about this life? How long will it last? What is the ceiling or max life expectency? This is Ayush or age determining considerations. Pending ones lot-in-life e.g. individual, [ manusya-ayus ] celestial [deva-ayus], animal [triyag ayus] or a hell being [ naraka ayus] various life spans are possible.

For the individual, on this planet in this yuga ( this time period), ones life say the wise, is vimshottari or 120 years. This knowledge is from Parasara muni (the Jyotisha of the first degee). Ya gotta ask why not an even 100, or the familur 108 (which I subscribe to, based upon another dasa period system)? Let's take a look:

Saturn as Yama , His Hand In This
This one-hundred-and-twenty is coupled to Saturn, Sani, also known as Yama. It is Yama that meters out the length of life. So if connected to Sani, we see that one trip around the sun = 29.5 years. For one's life to be 'complete' it is to cover the 4 Periods or ayana's of life: Dharma (that which upholds individual life or one's duties), Artha ( wealth creation), Kama ( fulfilling one's desires) and then Moksha ( enlightenment or establishing one SELF).
If we multiply 29.5 years X 4 periods we get 118 years. I will assume Sri Parashara's knowledge is much more advanced then mine and rounded to 120 years because he knows more, trying to keep it simple, etc. I can assure you this 120 is not an approxiation, or best efforts! Some also think the following:
The vimshottari dasha cycle of 120 years = 43,830 days, whereas, using the 360 days years, this amounts to 43,200 days. Now why would one use 360 days vs. a 365 day year? One year = one trip around the sun or completing a total 360 degree circle…so each day is worth 1 degree. Hence a 360 degree year is logical and then can work on any planet (brilliant I may add).

Now, note this 43,200 days. It resembles the number of years in Kali Yuga that is, 432,000 years, and it is not uncommon to write this as 43,2000 even though I find it confusing! Hence the length of Vimshottari dasa life span is a subset of the Kali Yuga duration… as Parasara shows consistency of his wisdom and dictums.

Side note, I used this word dasa , which is period or duration. Vimshottari dasa is a 120 year period. Other dasa periods are also available , there are 32 different types of dasa periods one can access and calculate, pending ones chart. My chart sugests that I should access Astottari dasa for a total of 108 years possible ayus.

Based Upon The Yuga In Place
The notion then is the yuga determines ones life span.
That is , Dwapar, Teta and Krita Yuga's are 2X, 3X and 4X times as long as kali duration, all based on this 432,000 years, and 43,200 days. So, one's life span can be potentially 2X to 4X the life span potential of Vimshottari ayus or from 120 years to (4X120) 480 years of potential life. This 480 when added together is 12 [4+8+0]. This 12 is one complete revolution around the zodiac ( 12 signs or rasi's) where one experiences the fullness ( Bhuma) of life in Krita Yuga ( called sat or truth yuga) where most if not all of the population is enlightened beings. Fullness on the indiviual, famly, social and world levels. Fullness of Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha.

Females and Nakshatras.


Aswini (Ketu) – Modest, clean, wholeosome and admirable character. Inherent respect and admiration for elder people. Independent and have the ability to earn her living. Capable and sufficient person. Normally such ladies have a good figure.

Bharni – Some have quarrelsome and treacherous nature. Tendency for wicked and vicious thoughts for other women particularly Arrogant for husband. internally cold, shrewd and ;cultivative’.

Kritika – Thin and tall woman with a weak constitution. Some suffer from chronic ailments including cough and cold / asthma. Depression and nervousness indicated. Prefers to indulge by her own whims and wishes without interference from others including family members. Jealous disposition and normally difficult to please.

Rohini – Born with normally round face with fair complexion and nice figure (Some beauty queens born in this Nakshatra). Have keen intellect and interesting conversation. Devoted to parents and domestic life Clean, honest, upright and happy.

Mrigsara – Wealthy family or well – do-do family and shall be brought up in a religious atmosphere and may be deeply religious herself. Some of them are entertaining and interested speakers and would participate in women’s club activities and other social enterprises. Successful and honoured in public career. Found of beautiful clothes, perfumes, jewels etc. Favourite colours is green and red.

Ardra – Critical and fault finding character with disagreeable disposition and may talk in a sarcastic manner. Some of such ladies are extravagant for whom she may come in contact. Grudgingly generous. May have weak lungs and should be careful about cough and cold. Some of Ardra-born females may become victim of T.B. etc.

Punarvasu - Successful in all matters and if she selects her career on her own, she will be very well known and highly honoured. Domestic life shall be very happy and her husband and children must adore her. The house shall be kept in orderly manner. Health remains good except the native may suffer from gastric complaints – thus need to be careful in her diet.

Pushya – Well read, cultured and active in all community and social affairs. It has been seen that such women are fond of in-door games, bridge parties, club life. Some of such women become a charming hostess. She will have her own money and her husband shall also be generous. Those of Pushya born females may become honoured if they join public career.

Ashlesha – Not a favourable Nakshatra for females. Most of the natives, though educated, have been seen to be ‘unclean’ and ‘uncertain’. Depending on other planets, they are disfigured. Secretive and bitter natured. Her shortcomings can be overcome by improving her attitude. Some of such females specially born under Kala-sarpa Yoga may have to lead miserable life. Widowhood is also indicated.

Magha – A frank, charming and interesting character is indicated. But some conspirates and ‘gossip’ remain around them throughout life and may have many secret enemies. Thus they are advised to be careful while taking to others though they are essentially an honourable and virtuous character (May suffer from character assassination). Practically loyal to family and may do anything for happiness in the family.

Purva - ashada born with oval face, such females are found to be quiet, softspoken and cultured. Though apparently modest and unasuming but have a strong and fine character. Very hospitable and sociable – she like to meet people and want to share their woes. Sewing / embroidery / tailoring becomes a speciality. Favour done to such ladies shall be repaid promptly.

Uttara – Ashada – Quiet but a joyous and healthy disposition is indicated. Pleasing voice fame and honour are other characteristics for such ladies. Born in a family with social backgrounds and wishes to mingle with her friends. Such ladies have fixed principles and some of them are ranked as ‘obstinate’. Persons with artistic bent of mind become here friends. Such ladies are efficient and adept in their domestic life.

Hasta – Good natured but some of them become lazy-such ladies have bulky stomach and have ample blossom. Jolly disposition and quick to forgive others for wrongs done to her. Likely to suffer from chronic rheumatism and piles later in life i.e. after 35-40 years of age. Advised to be careful in diet – no over – eating.

Chitra – An expensive and luxurious person. Fond of clothes and beautiful surroundings. Most of expenditure is on jewels, perfumes, cosmetics etc. Likely to change dresses several times a day and always on the look-out for new fashion. Such ladies should marry after careful matching of their horoscopes. Her luck would depend on the Lunar – Paksh Krishnan Paksh (Dark) or Shukla –Paksha (Bright ) i.e. richness and poverty.

Swati – The female has a truthful, honest and straight – forward character. Such persons can be identified by her gait and also manner of walking. Gait and speech are rather heavy. Normally have a friendly disposition and is popular with their own sex. Normally, they get married in a large family and are devoted to their husband.

Visaksha – Such ladies are born with delicate features and have always follow their own inclications. Friendship cannot be thrusted on them. Appealing to opposite sex and shall have fortunes after marriage. Her husband shall be ‘well-to-do’ if not wealthy. She will be fond of travel and change. Beautiful shaped legs add to her figure.

Anuradha – A gay and fun loving type and clever but may not be lucky in various matters (delayed marriage etc.). always surrounded by her admiring circle of friends. Married and domestic life will be happy depending on the horoscope of the husband. Some of such ladies have to face divorce proceedings on account of misunderstanding with the husband.

Jeyshtha – Likely to occupy influential and respected position. She is independent and self-sufficient, dignified and proud. Though not born in wealth family but she will herself be come wealthy and she will be recognised as head of the family. She is the pivot of the family and all actions precede her instructions.

Mula – Very little happiness is in store for these ladies. Secretive and destructive thoughts prove to be destructive in various matters. Stubborn nature need to be rectified by constant advice. Some females born under this Nakshtra are likely to have many love affairs but all prove trouble-some mentally and physically. They must marry after proper matching as chances of widowhood are bright.

Purava – Ashada – Normally, these ladies are born with beautiful face and big lips are very attractive. Curly hair is another feature for such women. And, another feature is small but well-propotioned feet. She has a generous positive character and would be natural ability as organizer and manager. Normally, such ladies are born in influential families.

Uttar-Ashada – Though contented in nature, but interested in social life. clubs and also in forming societies. Capable of holding managerial positions. Fluent in speech and have forceful and logical writing. Extremely devoted to husband.

Piles, Fistula and Fissure


Piles, fistula and fissure are some of the most common diseases of Ano-rectal anatomy. A pile is one of the most common diseases of human beings indicated by painless bleeding due to swelling up of blood vessels in the anal canal.
Fistulas are an abnormal small opening next to the anus from where anal discharge keeps occurring.
Fissure with skin tags leading to painful bleeding due to a small cut or scar at the anal margin.

Rahu and Ketu

The Nodes of the Moon hold great significance in Astrology. Hanuman shlokas

yathra yathra raghunatha keerthanam thathra thathra kruthamasthakanjalem |
pashpavari paripurna lochanam maruthim namatha rakshasanthagam ||

Sri Maruthi (Son of Wind God), the terror to demons (Rakshasas) is present wherever praise of Sri Rama is sung, with joyous tears in His eyes and folded hands over His head. To Him we offer our salutation (Namaskarams).


Manojavam maaruta tulya vegam Jitendriyam budhimataam varishtam |
Vaataatmajam Vaanarayootha mukhyam Sri Rama dootam s'irasa namaami ||

Lord Rama's emmisary,(sri Rama dootam) the foremost among the intelligentsia, (budhimataam varishtam) is swift as thought and equal to wind-God in speed (monojavam maaruth tulya vegam). I bow reverently my head (s'irasa namassmi) to that wind God's great son (vaaataatmajam)Hanuman, who keeps his sense organs ever under control (jitendriyam) and a leader of the army of the monkeys (vaanarayootha mukhyam). 

Anjanaanandanam veeram Jaanaki s'oka naas'anam |
Kapees'am Aksha hanthaaram Vande Lanka bhayankaram ||

Anjaneya, the delight of his mother Anjana Devi (Anjanaanandanam) and the destroyer of the demon king Ravana's son Aksha, dispeller of the grief of the daughter of king Janaka (Jaanaki s'oka naas'anam), I salute(Vande) that heroic (veeram) monkey-leader Hanuman (Kapees'am), the source of terror to Lanka (Lanka bhaankaram).

Ullangya sindhoh salilam saleelam yah s'oka vanhim janakatmajaayaah |
Aadhaya tenaiva dhadaaha lankaam Namaami tam praanjaliraanjaneyam ||

My obeisance to Anjaneya with palms joined (tam praanjaliranjaneyam), who having leapt across the deep sea (salilam) in a playful manner (sa leelam) and picking up the fire of grief of Jankakumari (janakatmajaayaah s'oka vanhim), burnt Lanka with the very same (tenaiva) fire of grief. 

Goshpathy kritha vaaraas'im mas(h)akee kritha raakshasam |
Ramayana mahaa maalaa Ratnam vande anilaathmajam ||

Sri Anjaneya sprang across the ocean effortlessly, as if crossing a Cow's hoof (goshpathy) and crushed many ogres, like mosquitoes. My obeisance(vande) to Son (aathmajam) of wind God (Anila) who shines as a pendent on great Ramayana necklace (Mahamaala). 

Aanajeyam atipaatalaananam kaanchanaadri Kamaneeya vigraham |
Paarijaatatarumoola Vaasinam Bhaavayaami pavamaana nandanam ||

Son of Anjanadevi (Aanajeyam) and the wind God (pavamaana nandanam) who is deep red-faced (ati paatala aananam) and who's body radiates like that of the golden mountain (kaanchanaadri Kamaneeya Vigraham) and has the Paarijaata celestial tree as His abode, I bow down with reverence (Bhaavayaami) Thee. 

budhdirbalam yaso' dhairyam nirbhayatva-maro'gata |
ajadatyam vakpatutvam ca hanumatsmaranadbhavet ||

Wisdom (budhi), physical strength (balam), fame (yashas), courage, valor (fearlessness), good health, vigilance, eloquence, (all these) are bestowed upon meditating on the Lord Hanuman. 

Atulita-bal-shamam, hemshailabhadeham
Danuja-vana-krishanam, gyaninamagraganyam
Sakalagunanidhanam, vanaranamadheesham |
Raghupativardootam, Vatajatam namami ||

He who is the repository of immense power with a body glittering like a mountain of gold; who is verily the jungle-fire to incinerate the jungle of demons; the exalted scholar, the mine of all virtue and the master of apesand monkey(vanaramam)- I bow in reverence to such of the wind god, Lord Hanuman, the nenowed ambassador of Lord Rama. 

Aamushi krutha marthaandam goshpathi krutha sagaram ||
thrunee krutha dasagreevam Anjaneyam namamyaham ||

He, who tried to devour the rays of the Sun in one stroke, who crossed the sea as if it is the distance between the front and back legs of the cow , who considered Ravana (Dasagriva) as trifle like grass and ignored him, - I pay obeisance to that Anjaneya.

asaadhya sadhaka swamin asaadhyam thavakim vadha ||
ramadootha krupasindho mathkaryam sadhaya prabho ||

He, who could achieve that which is impossible, who could do even the most difficult things- Swamin! Hey Swami- Please tell me: Is there anything that you cannot do? You are the ambassador of Lord Rama, you are the ocean of ompassion; Prabho (Prabhu in Sanskrit has the meaning - One who can do, undo and do in another way) please help me in discharging my duties and responsibilities.

sarva kalyana thaatharam sarvaapadhgana vaarakam ||
apara karuna murthim anjaneyam namamyaham ||

Hey Anjaneya ! who is the giver of all good things, who protect from all adversaries, who is the
repository of immeasurable love and compassion, I pay my obeisance to you.


doorikirutha sitarthi prikateekirutha rama vaibhava spurithi: ||
dharita dasamukha kirthi: puratho mama pathu hanumato murti: ||

May Lord Hanuman, who got rid of the sufferings of Sita, who brought out succinctly the character and special qualities of Lord Rama, who brought down the fame of Ravana, standing before me, protect me.

Let veera Sriman Hanuman lives in my mind and guide me in every aspect and lead me to victory. This Hanuman, known as the Ramadootha - the messenger of Sri Rama - was born to the Wind God Pavana, the Vayu, his eyes are light yellow in colour, has long hair. He is the one who helped Sita to get rid of her sorrow by conquering the Dasamuka rakshasa, Ravana; gave life to Lakshmana when he was lying unconscious bringing the herbal mountain itself for this purpose (as he had no time to search and select the proper medicinal herbs) and this is the same Hanuman who showed that he has the capability of crossing the Ocean.

My salutations to this Hanuman who always brings subham - everything that is good - for his devotees and eliminates the bad and the evil. He removes even the traces of bad thoughts and deeds from his devotees. i.e he makes them pure in words, thought and deed. With eyes yellow in colour, he is said to be the best among the kapi- the monkeys. He is the one as bright as koti Suryas and koti Chandras (million Suns and Moons) who went in search of Sita. He was a threat to the island of Lanka, but for his devotees he is the one who bestows everything. He was praised by Sugriva. Being the messenger of Rama (the descendent of Kakusth dynasty) he is revered by all Devas including Indra.
